A joint operation between Greek authorities, the FBI, and the Public Power Corporation (PPC – DEDDHE) has uncovered a large-scale electricity theft ring operating across Greece. The investigation has identified 105 individuals allegedly involved in the scheme, resulting in three arrests so far. Authorities estimate the financial damage to exceed €9 million. The group reportedly manipulated electricity meters at both businesses and private residences to steal power. Investigators have found no evidence suggesting the perpetrators possessed formal qualifications, such as being certified electricians. The operation signals a crackdown on energy fraud and highlights collaboration between international law enforcement agencies to combat such crimes. Further investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the network and bring all those involved to justice.
