Greece is implementing a new program, “Smart Bridges,” to proactively monitor the condition of its aging bridge network. Utilizing artificial intelligence, IoT sensors, and digital twin technology, the initiative aims to shift from reactive repairs to preventative maintenance. The Technical Chamber of Greece is leading the implementation under the oversight of the Ministry of Infrastructure. Real-time data collection will allow for continuous assessment of structural health and early detection of potential issues. This approach is intended to enhance infrastructure safety and optimize resource allocation for repairs. The program represents a significant investment in modernizing infrastructure management within the country.
