A new Pew Research Center survey reveals a significant decline in global trust in both President Donald Trump’s leadership and the United States as a reliable partner. Conducted across 36 countries between February and May 2026, the poll surveyed over 42,000 adults. The findings indicate that only 23 percent of respondents, on average, express confidence in Trump’s leadership on world affairs. This erosion of trust coincides with heightened geopolitical competition between the US and China, and the ongoing US-Israeli military conflict with Iran, which began in late February 2026. The survey suggests a growing international perception of diminished US reliability during a period of global instability. Further details of the survey’s findings are expected to be released by the Pew Research Center.
