The commander of the Givati Brigade, Colonel Netanel Shimkah, addressed a recent revolt within the Tzabar battalion during a training exercise in Yemen. He clarified that there was no intention to disrespect any soldier. Shimkah acknowledged that instances of “paz”am” – a term referring to abusive initiation practices and hazing of new recruits – had emerged. He emphasized that such behavior would not be tolerated within the brigade. The commander stated that the incidents stemmed from long-standing issues of seniority abuse and harassment of younger soldiers. Shimkah’s response aims to quell tensions and reaffirm commitment to respectful conduct within the Givati Brigade. The focus is now on rebuilding trust and preventing future occurrences of hazing and mistreatment.
