Former Chief Justice of Ghana, Sophia Akuffo, has resigned from the Council of State, the nation’s primary presidential advisory body. Sources confirm Akuffo submitted her resignation last year and has not participated in council meetings since. Her tenure on the Council followed a four-year period as Chief Justice, from 2017 to 2020. The reasons behind her decision to step down remain undisclosed to the public. As of today, neither Akuffo herself nor the Ghanaian presidency has issued an official statement regarding the resignation. This departure marks the end of her involvement with the high-level advisory group.
