Ghana’s Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) is proactively preparing for an upcoming Styrofoam ban with significant operational expansion. The EPA has established 46 new district offices nationwide to enhance regional oversight and enforcement capabilities. This expansion is coupled with the recruitment of approximately 3,000 new staff members, bolstering the agency’s workforce. According to EPA CEO Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse, these measures aim to strengthen overall operations and increase the agency’s presence throughout the country. The increase in resources is directly linked to preparing for and effectively implementing the forthcoming ban on Styrofoam. The EPA is also launching a second awareness campaign to educate the public about the ban and encourage sustainable alternatives. These steps demonstrate Ghana's commitment to environmental protection and responsible waste management.
