The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) in Ghana is set to incorporate driving simulators into its testing process for prospective drivers. This initiative aims to better evaluate a candidate’s ability to react to varied and challenging road conditions. Currently, driver assessments in Ghana primarily rely on on-road practical tests, which the DVLA believes can be limited in their ability to expose drivers to a comprehensive range of scenarios. The introduction of simulators will allow for the safe replication of hazardous situations, enabling examiners to gauge a driver’s decision-making skills and responsiveness without real-world risk. By identifying potential weaknesses early on, the DVLA hopes to improve road safety standards across Ghana. The program signifies a move towards a more technologically advanced and holistic approach to driver evaluation.
