Robben Asare, named Ghana’s 2025 National Best Youth Farmer, credits a single question posed during his national service in 2015 as the catalyst for his agricultural career. Stationed in Kintampo, Bono East Region, Asare questioned why, if farming could be profitable, more young people weren’t engaged in it. This realization stemmed from observing limited opportunities available to youth in the area. The question prompted him to explore agriculture as a viable path for economic empowerment and future building. Asare’s subsequent success highlights a potential shift in perspectives regarding farming as a career choice for young Ghanaians. His story underscores the importance of identifying and addressing barriers to youth participation in agriculture within the country.
