A 26-year-old Deutsche Bahn security guard is in critical condition after falling from a moving train following a dispute with a passenger. The incident occurred on a train traveling from Offenburg to Karlsruhe at approximately 120 km/h. The guard and a colleague were responding to reports of a disturbance involving a potentially intoxicated passenger refusing a ticket check. The passenger allegedly became verbally abusive, leading to a physical confrontation where the guard was pushed against a door, which detached from the train. A large-scale search ensued, locating the guard approximately 2 kilometers down the tracks. A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, and rail union EVG has expressed outrage, highlighting an increasing danger faced by train personnel. Deutsche Bahn has condemned the attack, noting a wider problem of violent passengers affecting rail workers in Germany, following the death of a conductor earlier this year due to passenger violence.
