A workshop in Salalah focused on improving how Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states report on their progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The training centered on utilizing the Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX) standard, aiming to streamline data sharing and enhance the accuracy of SDG reporting. Participants explored ways to leverage SDMX for more efficient statistical exchange and metadata management. This initiative seeks to foster greater collaboration amongst GCC nations in monitoring and achieving the SDGs. The workshop addressed the technical aspects of implementing SDMX and its potential for harmonizing data collection efforts. Ultimately, the goal is to provide policymakers with more reliable and comparable data to inform effective SDG-related strategies.
