Investigations have been launched in France, Italy, and Australia into allegations of abuse made by pro-Palestinian activists who participated in a Gaza-bound aid flotilla. Approximately 430 activists claim they experienced “cruel” and “sádico” treatment during their interception and subsequent detention by Israeli forces. Israel has strongly rejected these accusations. The flotilla was attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza when it was intercepted. The investigations will seek to determine the validity of the activists’ claims and whether any international laws were violated. Details of the alleged abuse remain under investigation by authorities in the three European nations and Australia.
