The All Ireland Poetry Slam Championship is currently underway in Galway City, bringing together poets from across Ireland. The competition boasts a nearly twenty-year history, fostering a dynamic spoken word scene. Its origins trace back to the 1980s, specifically to similar events first established in Chicago, Illinois. This championship provides a platform for performance poetry and lyrical competition. The event in Galway City continues a tradition of competitive poetry that began internationally. Organizers aim to promote and celebrate the art of spoken word throughout Ireland, building upon the foundations laid decades ago in the United States. The All Ireland Poetry Slam Championship is a vibrant cultural event for both participants and audiences.
