A Hungarian Member of Parliament, Szabolcs Tisza, has filed a complaint with the National Authority for Data Protection (NAIH) regarding the allocation of substantial funds – amounting to hundreds of millions of forints – to foundations linked to the ruling Fidesz party. The complaint centers on a lack of transparency surrounding the distribution of these funds through the National Cultural Fund (NKA). Specifically, Tisza requested data concerning these allocations but the foundations in question refused to disclose the information. This refusal to provide data has prompted the MP to seek intervention from the data protection authority. The case raises concerns about accountability and openness in the use of public funds channeled through these foundations. The NAIH will now investigate whether the foundations were justified in withholding the requested information. This development adds to ongoing scrutiny of financial dealings involving entities connected to the government.
