A French mother and her five children have been rescued from a remote area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan after reportedly being held captive for ten years. Sylvie Yasmina alleges her husband imprisoned the family after relocating from Australia in 2014, and she was found with visible injuries. The rescue operation was initiated after one of her sons managed to escape and alert authorities at a local police station. Pakistani police have detained the husband for questioning regarding the allegations of abuse and unlawful confinement. Yasmina has expressed her wish to return to France with her children as soon as possible. The French embassy in Pakistan is providing consular assistance to the family. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the alleged abuse and captivity.
