Jordan Bardella, the leader of France’s far-right Rassemblement National (RN), is facing controversy following the publication of alleged antisemitic remarks he made in 2013. Investigative platform Mediapart revealed online messages and emails from Bardella’s time as a young activist with the Front National, the RN’s predecessor. The messages reportedly include claims about Jewish control of banks and a conspiracy theory about a “New World Order” dominated by Israël, with Jeruzalem as its capital. Bardella vehemently denies the accusations, calling them “flagrant lies” and claiming he never made such statements publicly or privately. He has instructed his lawyer to pursue legal action against Mediapart, citing his age and limited party involvement at the time as reasons to doubt the source's reliability. Marine Le Pen, a prominent figure in RN, has also strongly condemned the revelations. The allegations have sparked significant reaction in France and pose a challenge to Bardella and the Rassemblement National.
