New data from the French Ministry of the Interior reveals that 111 women were killed by their current or former partners in France in 2025, representing a 4% increase from the previous year. A total of 136 deaths linked to domestic violence were recorded in 2025, including 25 men, a decrease of 19%. On average, a death occurs every three days. The report also documented 435 attempted murders within couples. The study indicates that 76% of these incidents occurred at the victim’s or perpetrator’s home, with white weapons used in 52 cases and firearms in 30. Over a quarter of cases (26%) followed arguments, while 22% were linked to an unacceptable separation; the majority of perpetrators are French men, often unemployed.
