Former head of Egypt’s State Litigation Authority, Counselor Hussein Madkour, was not awarded a state honor and scheduled ceremony by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi due to accusations of financial misconduct. Three judicial sources within the Authority revealed that Madkour is accused of misappropriating approximately 75 million Egyptian pounds. These funds were allegedly deducted from the salaries and benefits of current and retired Authority counselors. The misappropriated money was reportedly used to finance celebratory events and other projects. The State Litigation Authority’s club board described the actions in an internal statement obtained by Mada Masr. The accusations led to the cancellation of both the award and the planned recognition ceremony.
