A significant forest fire is burning in Nový Vrbno, Opava region, prompting the declaration of a level three fire alarm – the third highest of four. The blaze has consumed approximately 27 hectares of forest land. Firefighters are battling the flames with specialized equipment, but high temperatures and strong winds are hindering their efforts. The fire has already spread to nearby stubble fields, exacerbating the situation. Fire service spokespersons Kamila Langerová and Miroslav Kučera reported that helicopters equipped with Bambi buckets are being used to drop water on the fire. Authorities are working to contain the spread and prevent further damage.
