A Porter Airlines flight from Victoria to Toronto was cancelled on August 6th after a child refused to remain seated and wear a seatbelt during taxiing. The child was reportedly standing in their seat as the plane prepared for takeoff. Despite repeated efforts from a parent and flight crew, attempts to secure the child were unsuccessful. Airline policy and safety regulations dictated the flight could not depart in that condition. The aircraft returned to the terminal and both the child and accompanying adult disembarked.
