Veteran Finnish hurdler Elmo Lakka has announced his retirement from competitive athletics at the end of the current season. The 110-meter hurdles national record holder will conclude his career after a successful run in the sport. Lakka will transition into an administrative position, becoming the new Executive Director of Helsinki Kisa-Veikot, a Finnish sports club. He is set to begin his new role in early September, succeeding Reijo Siitonen, who is retiring. This marks a significant career shift for Lakka, moving from athlete to leadership within the organization. The move allows him to remain involved in athletics while leveraging his experience in a new capacity.
