FIFA announced plans to sell a stake in its commercial operations, including the World Cup, through a new subsidiary called FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), aiming to raise $4.2 billion. While FIFA will retain majority control, it seeks long-term investors for minority shares. The move follows a report in The Times alleging potential personal financial gain for FIFA President Gianni Infantino and involvement of controversial investors like Joshua Kushner and JP Morgan Chase. UEFA strongly condemned the plan, arguing that football's governance should not be commodified and questioning the lack of transparency. FIFA insists it will maintain full control over sporting decisions and regulations, and that member associations will have the opportunity to take a small stake in FFE. The initial valuation of FFE is estimated at $20 billion, with each of FIFA’s 211 member associations potentially receiving $20 million.
