The Kiiraay – Les Patriotes Républicains party, led by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, has secured a significant boost in membership with the unanimous decision of the MDTA (Mouvement Doolel Taxawu Askan Wi) in the Thiomby commune to join their ranks. This follows an August 22nd general assembly where MDTA’s successful membership drive – exceeding its goal of 1,000 with nearly 2,500 cards sold in six months – was reviewed. Alexandre Ngom, a founding member of Kiiraay and the mayor of Thiomby, spearheaded the discussion regarding the MDTA’s future and potential alliance. Participants overwhelmingly voted to integrate into Kiiraay, seeing it as a way to strengthen their local political standing. This collective adhesion is positioned as the first major reinforcement for the party within the commune. The move aims to consolidate political power and expand Kiiraay’s influence, leveraging the MDTA’s established grassroots network of over 2,500 supporters.
