Aminata Touré, coordinator of the “Diomaye President” coalition, announced the designation of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye as the leader of the newly formed political party, Kiiraay, Les Patriotes Républicains, during a general assembly. The resolution detailed the reasons for choosing Faye, highlighting the coalition’s commitment to strengthening Senegal’s democratic achievements amidst growing regional instability in West Africa. It acknowledged the efforts of coalition members and supporters who contributed to Faye’s election victory. The document emphasized the high regard held for Faye’s leadership, prompting 437 leaders to merge their organizations into Kiiraay. Furthermore, the resolution praised Faye’s recent diplomatic successes, particularly within the ECOWAS region and on the international stage, bolstering confidence in his leadership. The founding of Kiiraay marks a new chapter for the coalition supporting President Faye.
