A father in Magura, Bangladesh, sold his one-month-old daughter for 25,000 takas due to financial hardship. To conceal the act, he falsely told his wife that a supernatural entity had taken the child. He staged a deception, even summoning traditional healers to perform rituals at their home to reinforce the fabricated story. After 22 days, police intervened and rescued the infant, returning her to her mother. The incident occurred in the Berail Polita Union of Magura Sadar Upazila. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sale and the father’s motives.
