Former Pakistani senator Taj Muhammad Afridi died in a vehicle crash on the M-1 motorway near Colonel Sher Khan Interchange on Friday. The accident occurred while he was travelling from Islamabad to Peshawar, according to Motorway Police. Initial reports suggest a technical fault in the vehicle was the cause of the incident; his driver sustained minor injuries. Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani expressed profound sadness over Afridi’s death, offering condolences to his family. Gilani highlighted Afridi’s contributions to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, democratic values, and the legislative process. He described the late senator as a dedicated public servant and a significant loss for both the nation and parliamentary circles, praising his commitment to public welfare.
