The European Union has implemented a new migration and asylum pact, approved in May 2024, intended to better manage migration flows. According to Czech MEP Alexander Vondra, the EU is now more prepared for potential migration crises than it was in 2015. Vondra stated the pact represents a compromise that strengthens measures to curb illegal and uncontrolled migration. Key improvements include enhanced monitoring and information gathering regarding incoming migrants. He emphasized the importance of controlling the influx of people from the Middle East and North Africa, citing potential security risks. The new pact seeks to address concerns about border security and integration challenges associated with large-scale migration.
