European farms are experiencing a growing labor shortage, despite offering competitive daily wages and benefits. Employers report that potential workers are primarily focused on the daily pay rate rather than long-term employment prospects. The scarcity of experienced fruit pickers is exacerbating the issue, with many farms seeking to hire between two and five workers. Larger agricultural producers are less affected, as they typically rely on permanent staff. The Serbian publication Blic Biznis reported on this trend, highlighting the challenges faced by farms in securing sufficient seasonal labor. This situation raises concerns about potential impacts on harvests and food production. The offered packages include a daily wage of approximately 50 euros, alongside provided accommodation and three meals daily.
