The European Union will begin applying a special tariff to small packages arriving from countries outside the EU, effective July 1st. The new levy will apply to shipments under €150. Officials state the aim is to create a more level playing field for businesses, as goods imported in large volumes are currently subject to duties while smaller shipments are exempt. Czech manufacturers argue that inexpensive packages, particularly from China, create unfair competition. While a €3 fee is not expected to fully resolve the issue, it is considered a first step towards addressing the imbalance. The change was discussed on the Czech program *Události, komentáře z ekonomiky*.
