New European Union regulations are set to take effect in August to address AI-generated and manipulated content. The primary goal of these rules is to make deepfakes and other synthetic media clearly visible to the public. However, Austria is currently lagging behind in the implementation of these requirements. The country has not yet established the necessary control authority required to enforce the rules. This absence of a regulatory body creates a significant gap in oversight. As the deadline approaches, the lack of infrastructure puts Austria at a disadvantage. Consequently, the transparency of AI content remains unprotected within the country.
