Starting in July, a new European Union customs reform will alter the pricing of small goods imported from non-EU countries. Shoppers using platforms such as Temu, Shein, and AliExpress will face additional costs, with a minimum increase of 3 euros per item category. For some low-cost products, the applied customs duties may significantly exceed the original price of the item. These changes affect both individual consumers and businesses. Consequently, Asian traders may accelerate the relocation of their warehouses and logistics operations into the EU. The reform aims to restructure how small-scale imports from third countries are taxed. This shift is expected to impact the competitiveness of ultra-cheap Asian e-commerce platforms.
