The European Union has approved over €56 million in aid from its agricultural reserve to support farmers impacted by extreme weather events. Romania will receive approximately €14.8 million of this funding. This financial assistance is specifically targeted towards Romanian farmers cultivating corn and sunflowers. The aid is intended to mitigate the effects of severe drought and heatwaves experienced during the summer of 2025. The European Commission proposed the mobilization of these funds to address the challenges faced by agricultural producers across member states. This support aims to stabilize production and livelihoods in regions heavily affected by climate-related agricultural losses. The funds will be distributed to eligible farmers based on criteria established by Romanian authorities.
