Estonia’s National Opera is actively exploring options to increase its capacity and modernize facilities. The opera house has issued a call for contractors to develop detailed plans based on three potential extension strategies. These options include building an addition towards the Uus turg area, expanding into the Teatri väljak square, or a complete reconstruction of the current performance hall. The chosen contractor will be responsible for creating a space-use program and thorough volume analyses for each scenario. This study aims to determine the most feasible and impactful solution for the opera house’s future growth. The project signifies a commitment to enhancing Estonia’s cultural infrastructure and providing a better experience for performers and audiences alike. Ultimately, the decision will balance preservation with the needs of a modern performing arts institution.
