Virko Veskoja, known as LU:K, a pioneer of the jungle music scene in Estonia, is set to make his UK debut in Tottenham. His journey began in the early 1990s when, living in Estonia, he discovered Britain’s emerging jungle sound through late-night broadcasts on Finnish radio. Inspired by the futuristic breakbeats and sampled voices, Veskoja began recreating the music using homemade equipment. For the young producer in post-Soviet Estonia, this music represented a connection to a different world and a new technological expression. After decades of developing his own unique sound, LU:K is now bringing the influence full circle, returning the music to its source. His story highlights the cross-border impact of the UK underground scene and the power of radio in disseminating new musical styles. More on LU:K’s journey can be found at Estonian World.
