Estonia’s Ministry of Energy is proposing a new regulation to incentivize the development of wind farms across the country. Under the draft regulation, local governments could receive up to €5 million in support payments for approving wind farm projects within their administrative boundaries. Minister of Energy Erkki Keldo has submitted the plan for approval, aiming to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy sources. The financial support is designed to address potential concerns and encourage cooperation from municipalities regarding wind farm construction. This initiative reflects Estonia's commitment to increasing its renewable energy capacity and reducing reliance on traditional energy sources. The regulation awaits final approval before implementation, potentially opening the door for significant investment in wind energy infrastructure throughout Estonia. This move signals a proactive approach to balancing energy needs with local government considerations.
