Estonian waste handlers are advocating for the incineration of collected disposable e-cigarettes, citing logistical challenges with current recycling practices which involve shipping the waste abroad for processing. They believe local incineration would be a more efficient solution. However, the Estonian Ministry of Climate opposes this proposal. Currently, all collected disposable vapes are exported to a partner for processing, a system handlers deem less practical. The debate centers on the most environmentally and economically sound method for managing the growing volume of electronic waste generated by these devices. No specific reasons were given by the Ministry for their opposition to incineration. The future of disposable vape waste management in Estonia remains unresolved.
