Estonia’s Air Force took delivery of its inaugural IRIS-T SLM mobile air defense missile system unit on Monday, marking a significant upgrade to the nation’s defensive capabilities. The system, acquired from Germany, provides Estonia with a medium-range air defense capability it previously lacked. This allows Estonian forces to intercept potential airborne threats at a considerably increased distance. Officials state the IRIS-T system will substantially enhance the country’s ability to protect its airspace. The delivery represents a key step in modernizing Estonia’s military in response to regional security concerns. Further units and training are planned to fully integrate the system into the Estonian defense architecture.
