A male crested macaque has been on the loose for several days after escaping from Beekse Bergen safari park in the Netherlands. Park officials confirmed the ape poses no threat to people or pets. The animal reportedly escaped over the weekend, potentially by swimming across a moat previously thought impassable. Sightings have been reported in the surrounding area, including the village of Esbeek, several kilometers from the park. Residents are advised not to approach the macaque but to report sightings to the park via a dedicated number. Beekse Bergen intends to recapture the animal by tranquilizing it, following a similar incident in May involving an escaped cheetah.
