Equinor, a Norwegian energy company, admits it needs to better communicate the true extent of its renewable energy production following a recent report by NRK. The NRK report revealed a significant discrepancy between public perception and reality: Norwegians believe 30 percent of Equinor's production is renewable, when the actual figure is only 0.8 percent. Jannik Lindbæk, Equinor’s director of communications, stated the company is taking the findings seriously and needs to improve its messaging. He acknowledged the low percentage doesn’t reflect the full scope of their activity in renewable energy. Lindbæk suggested a possible shift in presentation, potentially showcasing more oil and gas alongside renewable projects like wind turbines. This comes as the company recognizes they haven’t adequately highlighted the continuing importance of oil and gas in their overall portfolio.
