The President of the National Electoral Commission (CNE), João Carlos Trindade, has refuted claims of excessive spending following the rejection of a proposed budget. Trindade stated the rejected budget actually included cost reduction measures. He dismissed the accusation of “excessive spending” ("despesismo" in Portuguese) as unfounded. The CNE President announced plans to develop a revised budget with even deeper cuts than previously proposed. This follows a vote against the initial proposal within the CNE. Trindade aims to demonstrate fiscal responsibility in the management of electoral funds. The new plan intends to surpass the austerity measures already considered.
