An Egyptian delegation, led by Minister Karim Sharif and including health and maritime transport officials, met with Cameroon’s Minister Gabriel Mbairobe on September 9, 2026, to propose collaborative tourism initiatives. The proposals focus on four key areas: building hotel infrastructure, establishing leisure centers, training hospitality staff, and facilitating exchanges in cultural tourism management and expertise. Cameroon’s tourism sector is attracting interest from Egypt, which views the partnership as vital for upgrading Cameroon as a tourist destination. Minister Mbairobe welcomed the Egyptian offer and pledged further discussions on these mutually beneficial points. This collaboration aligns with efforts to strengthen South-South cooperation between Yaoundé and Cairo. The Egyptian delegation presented what are considered ambitious proposals for the future of tourism in Cameroon.
