A new Ebola outbreak in the Ituri province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, officially declared four weeks ago, is not yet under control, according to the Africa CDC. The outbreak marks the 17th instance of Ebola recorded in the country. Africa CDC Director General Jean Kaseya stated that the virus continues to spread within the region. As of today, health officials have confirmed 676 cases of Ebola and 136 related deaths. The ongoing transmission raises concerns about a wider epidemic if containment efforts are not strengthened. Authorities are working to implement public health measures to limit further spread and provide care for those affected. The situation remains a significant public health challenge for the DRC and the Africa CDC.
