A Massachusetts couple, David and Ina Steiner, have been awarded $70 million in damages after being subjected to a disturbing stalking and harassment campaign orchestrated by former eBay employees. The former employees, angered by the couple's critical online newsletter about the company, engaged in a pattern of threats and bizarre deliveries intended to intimidate them. These deliveries included live cockroaches, spiders, a dead, taxidermied cat, and a disturbing bloody pig mask. Prosecutors detailed how eBay executives actively concealed the harassment and even participated in it. The scheme extended to attempts to disrupt the couple’s business and personal lives, causing significant emotional distress. The substantial judgment reflects the severity of the harassment and eBay’s alleged complicity. Several former eBay employees have already been convicted for their roles in the malicious acts.
