The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project has made significant progress in compensating those affected by its construction in the Geita Region of Tanzania. To date, 1,482 out of 1,492 affected residents – representing 99.3 percent – have received their due compensation. These residents are part of a larger group of 10,223 individuals across Tanzania impacted by the EACOP project. The total compensation package amounts to 35 billion Tanzanian shillings. This achievement highlights the project's commitment to addressing the concerns of those displaced or otherwise affected by the pipeline's development. The compensation follows thorough assessments to determine fair and equitable payments. The project continues to work towards completing the final payments to reach 100% completion in the Geita Region.
