A citizen of Nederland has been appointed Minister of Justice within a controversial parallel government established by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan. The RSF has been engaged in a violent conflict with the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) for over three years, with both sides accused of war crimes, though the RSF is considered more violent. The United Nations has identified characteristics of genocide in the RSF's actions, and the European Parliament has called for its designation as a terrorist organization. This parallel government, known as the Tasis coalition, operates in areas controlled by the RSF and is not recognized by Nederland or the international community. The UN Security Council has deemed it a threat to Sudan's territorial integrity. Osama Said, a Sudanese-Dutch lawyer, has been identified as the appointed minister and has previously been active in Sudanese politics, including appearances with Al Jazeera and at the coalition’s founding in Nairobi, Kenia. Said confirms his nomination and states his aim is to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people, operating from Nederland on a voluntary basis.
