Drones are being utilized to map the scale of illegal construction in the “Baba Alino” area near Varna, Bulgaria. Experts from Sofia University and the Chamber of Architects are employing LiDAR laser scanning technology for the project. This method allows for detailed mapping even through dense forest canopy, providing a precise assessment of the structures. The initiative aims to accurately document the extent of unauthorized building in the region. The data collected will likely inform future enforcement actions regarding the illegal development. Authorities hope the detailed maps will aid in managing and potentially rectifying the situation. The project represents a novel approach to identifying and quantifying illegal construction in a challenging terrain.
