A driver has been re-indicted in connection with a January 2024 explosion in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, that killed seven people. The incident occurred when a Beiben North Benz truck carrying 15.7 tons of liquefied gas collided with a Nissan Patrol vehicle at a busy intersection near the Dunzhin Garav trade center. Investigators determined the driver, N.R. of Dashvaanzhil LLC, violated safety regulations, leading to a massive gas leak and subsequent explosion. A previous preliminary hearing in April 2025 sent the case back for further investigation. Prosecutors now allege the driver’s negligence caused grievous bodily harm, citing Article 11.5 of the Criminal Code. The case has been transferred to the District Criminal Court for trial, seeking prosecution for reckless endangerment resulting in severe injuries and fatalities. The driver faces charges related to failing to fulfill his legal obligations regarding workplace safety.
