Bangladesh’s direct flights between Dhaka and New York are unlikely to commence before 2028, according to Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanom. The delay is attributed to the anticipated five-year timeframe for the national airline to integrate new Boeing aircraft into its fleet. Minister Khanom stated that the absence of suitable aircraft prevents the immediate launch of the direct route. The government is simultaneously exploring options to lease aircraft from Airbus to potentially mitigate the wait. This development impacts travel plans and connectivity between the two countries. The announcement was made Sunday at a hotel in Dhaka.
