A catastrophic flood struck the Himalayan region between Nepal and Tibet on August 26. The disaster has already claimed at least 472 lives, with the death toll expected to rise. Currently, approximately 1,400 people remain missing across the affected areas. Authorities on both sides of the border are deeply concerned about further casualties. A glacier collapse that triggered the initial disaster has created a dangerous water reservoir. There is a significant risk that this reservoir could burst and flood the devastated zone again. Consequently, the Nepalese police issued a formal flood alert on August 28.
