Two fans face criminal charges following disturbances at a prematurely ended Prague derby match between Slavia and Sparta in May. Police have accused one individual of rioting and another of both rioting and threatening the opposing team’s goalkeeper. The more serious charge carries a potential sentence of up to two years in prison. Approximately one hundred individuals committed lesser offenses during the incident, according to police. The investigation focused on identifying those directly involved in the unrest that led to the match’s early termination. Prague police spokesman Jan Daněk announced the charges on Wednesday. Authorities continue to address the fallout from the highly-charged football rivalry clash.
