Denmark’s Peter Holst Olsen from Næstved secured victory at the annual giant pumpkin championship held at Tivoli in København on Saturday. His winning pumpkin weighed in at an impressive 1,198 kilograms, setting a new Danish and Nordic record. This marks Olsen’s third consecutive win in the Danish giant pumpkin competition. The achievement was particularly notable given the growing conditions this year, according to Olsen. He received 15,000 Danish kroner (approximately 22,000 Norwegian kroner) in prize money, which he has already invested in a new microscope. Olsen’s ultimate goal is to break the world record of 1,278.8 kilograms within the next year.
